Romain Iltis

Previously awarded the title of ‘Meilleur Sommelier de France’ 2012, Romain Iltis recently won the accolade of ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’ 2015, in the sommelier category.

Born in Alsace, he trained at the Alexandre Dumas Hotel College in Illkirch-Graffenstaden and began his career with Chef Alain Ducasse. He spent time at Le Chabichou Hotel in Courchevel before returning to his home region, joining the Verte Vallée Hotel in Munster as head wine waiter. In 2012, he teamed up with Chef Jean-Georges Klein at the Arnsbourg Restaurant in Baerenthal.

Now presiding over an exceptional wine cellar, Romain Iltis has a passion for wine and is determined to share his enthusiasm, as well as enabling people to discover and spread the word about young winemakers who are destined for future greatness.
Given his background in cooking, he has a trained palate and knows how to match wines and dishes in a way that enhances both. The dishes complement the rich and complex aromas of the wines. At the same time, the wines set off the full flavours of the dishes they accompany. With support from his team, he places his enthusiasm and expertise at your service. His choices of wine may surprise you as much as the menus proposed by Chef Paul Stradner.
